TUM Global Health Talk by T. Bärninghausen hosted by the CGH - 25/06/24, 17:00 - 18:30

We are happy to announce this month’s session of the TUM Global Health Talk speaker series on June 25th, 2024, where our guest speaker Prof. Dr. Dr. Till Bärninghausen will present his work on “Intervention research for population and planetary health”.
Prof. Till Bärnighausen is a Professor at Alexander von Humboldt University and Director of the Heidelberg Institute for Public Health at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He also holds the position of Professor of Global Health at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in the United States and is a Senior Faculty at the Wellcome Trust’s Africa Health Research Institute in South Africa. His research focuses on establishing the causal impacts of global health interventions on population health, social, and economic outcomes.
In his talk, he will address the importance of action-oriented research in a world facing major and increasing threats to population and planetary health, such as the obesity pandemic, aging, social transformations, and climate change. He will present a framework and methodology for intervention research aimed at population and planetary health, describing methods and illustrating their application with examples.
